L’amour de l’art la dirige vers la réalisation de clips musicaux en 2015. Constance est chargée de la réalisation de clips pour la chanteuse Anna Kova. Constance nous confie son expérience à L’ESRA, et ses erreurs lorsqu’elle débuta dans le milieu audiovisuel.

Maëlle VABRE : Bonjour Constance MAILLET, Qu’est-ce qui a déclenché votre envie de faire de la réalisation ?

Constance MAILLET : La fiction a toujours été une part importante de ma vie, depuis  toute môme j’ai toujours lu beaucoup de livres et regardé beaucoup de film. Mon père est photographe, et pendant toute mon enfance j’ai regardé des photos en me demandant ce qui s’était passé avant et après. D’autre part il était essentiel pour mon père qu’à 12 ans je comprenne le principe de focal, diaph, hyperfocus… Je comprenais déjà vaguement comment ça marchait. A la sortie du bac, je me suis retrouvée un peu par hasard en prépa d’art aux ateliers de sèvres.

Un jour ma prof d’art contemporain m’a demandé ce que je voulais faire de ma vie. « Je veux raconter des histoires avec des images ».

« Ca s’appelle du cinéma ca… » J’avais ma réponse, j’ai quitté l’école et je me suis inscrite a l’ESRA.

M.V : Quel a été pour vous l’avantage principal de votre licence en réalisation audiovisuelle
C.M : L’ESRA n’a pas répondu à met attentes. Mais ça a vaguement rassuré ma famille que j’ai une licence.

M.V : Quelles erreurs classiques faisiez vous en tant que jeune réalisatrice ?

M.T : Ne pas assez m’affirmer. Ma politesse prenait le dessus, je me suis retrouvé à realiser des clips avec le chef électro de Woody Allen, ou des chef opérateur que j’admirais beaucoup, et je ne pouvais pas m’empêcher de respecter trop leur travail pour me permettre de les diriger sans leur demander leur avis. Et c’est vraiment une erreur grave, à mes yeux. Si un réalisateur doit être très directif, une réalisatrice doit l’être encore plus.

Un jour je tournais dans les combles d’un château et j’ai voulu aider l’équipe machino en montant du matériel avec eux. J’ai flingué mon autorité car pour eux si je leur rendais service, c’est que je n’étais pas à ma place.

J’ai mis longtemps à comprendre que faire preuve d’autorité était essentiel.
