Nathalie GIRAUD est réalisatrice elle a gagné de nombreux prix pour le court-métrage “L’usine, l’Autre Nuit”. Son court-métrage a été selectionné dans plus de 50 festivals partout dans le monde. Nathalie a compris le cinéma qu’elle veut faire, elle nous partage comment elle a trouvé son style cinématographique.

Maëlle VABRE : Bonjour Nathalie GIRAUD, parmi les projets que vous avez réalisé quel est celui qui vous a le plus marqué et pourquoi ?

Nathalie GIRAUD : Le dernier court métrage L’usine l’autre nuit, un film que j’ai co-réalisé avec timothée corteggiani, qui a été tourné de nuit et qui a été une expérience humaine très intense.  L’épreuve d’un tournage comme celui-ci peut résulter à de belles choses, ce qui a été le cas. Le film a été beaucoup vu et m’a aidé à comprendre le cinéma que je voulais faire et à apprendre à en faire !

M.V : Quel conseil donneriez-vous à une plus jeune version de vous-même qui débute dans la réalisation ?

N.G : De travailler, beaucoup. Et de ne surtout jamais baisser les bras. Le chemin peut être long mais la réflexion que le temps apporte sur les projets couplé au travail scénaristique de longue durée est un apprentissage énorme et bénéfique.Les chutes, les refus font partis de l’apprentissage mais il ne faut ni perdre sa fougue, ni oublier l’envie initiale et toujours se reposer la question « de pourquoi je voulais faire ce film à la base », pour ne jamais se perdre. Ecouter son instinct et les retours de professionnels, avoir conscience qu’on travaille pour faire le meilleur film et non se laisser brimer par un égo personnel démesuré qui empêche d’écouter les bons conseils. Apprendre donc à écouter et se laisser le temps de comprendre les retours.

Donc mon conseil numéro 1 serait : apprendre ce qui est bon pour son cinéma, essayer de se connaître un maximum pour élucider la grande question de son propre désir de cinéma.

M.V : Si vous aviez une réalisatrice à recommander comme source d’inspiration qui ce serait ?

N.G : J’aurais tendance à répondre aucune car je n’aime pas les cases. Je peux aimer le cinéma de certains et pourtant ne pas vouloir faire la même chose. S’ouvrir, voir, découvrir, ressentir des émotions. Mais si je devais donner un nom Andréa Arnold (réalisatrice et scénariste britannique,  connue pour faire un cinéma qui traite la réalité du monde actuel).

C’est bien que chaque femme, fasse son cinéma.
